SONIC 20th Anniversary Cards [WAVE 2]: 7 of 28 DARKSPINE SONIC THE HEDGEHOG ★ First Appearance :: Sonic & the Secret Rings (Nintendo Wii), 2007 ★ Age :: 15 ★ Height :: 100cm (3'3") ★ Weight :: 35kg (77lbs)
Wasn't liking this one either, but the blending mode tweaks are working really well for the Super forms... If this can be classed as one, really.
Ridiculously simple design, so it was pretty hard to make this one look good. Quite like it though! Getting to sleepybyes, now. I have a cold. ;__;
[EDIT 11.06.11] ★ Wave II- for reasons unknown to me (Probably due to being a complete clutz!) Were in the wrong size dimensions, and have been adjusted with bleed areas compensated for in order to bring it in line with the other products. In addition, colour tweaks have been made throughout this wave for consistency! ★ This will be available as part of a limited run at Summer of Sonic 2011 as a glossy postcard print (4.13 x 5.82 inches), with flavour text on the back and a big, white space for whatever you want! (I'll even sign it if you like), available to the general public at a later date. Limited run, will cost £3.50 GBP (5.75 USD) each, and £13.00 (21.00 USD) for the entire Wave of four!
Darkspine Sonic, he almost becomes a bit lost in the shuffle, doesn't he? I personally was not a fan of Sonic and the Secret Rings, but this powered-up form at the end was certainly unique. You definitely pulled off the simple look well, great job!
My internet is capped so all I'm seeing is about 1/11 of the image xD
but seeing the thumbnail was more than enough for me.
I've never actually played S&TSR at all (along with every other game after SA for Dreamcast lol) but you've drawn Darkspine Sonic so awesome. Your's seems to be the best Darkspine Sonic drawing I have seen so far.
:3 I took some time to look at it again and also agree on the fact that it turned out very good~ Sonic and the secret rings, I often took a look at some gameplay scenes, also cutscenes and music of it, but never played the game completely myself With that I can't say much about the game myself and will get to commenting the pic right away: I think only making the rings glow and the effects around Darkspine Sonic was a great idea, it supports the darker color of him much more with giving him that kind of contrast Once again also the colouring sheme of the background fits in completely, the way you made this colour combination doesn't only fit to the transformation from Sonic to Darkspine Sonic, it also fits to the final fight scene I remember x) Yet again the background is very softly done but detailed in colour what supports the character as the main motif again and gives Darkspine Sonic the attention he shall get with the project card On the character himself, the smaller details are quite deciding for the charisma in the pic I think: You gave the most magic to the rings with the effects and also have added the typical eye highlight details that we know from Sonic :3 With this detail people that don't know this form of Sonic yet could still find out that it's really him, so the design coming with the colouring already is telling something about the story behind the character that is a thing I really like As a last I am happy that the magical effects surround him instead of interacting with him, it shows the mysterious and still unknown power Sonic has in this form It makes the viewer concentrate on the power of Darkspine Sonic instead of Sonic himself as a hero Even if it was hard to make this more simple design look the way you wanted it to look like, I think you did a very good job on it ^_^
